The Projects

Missions:

Believing in the importance of communities helping one another with the love of Christ, we have started missionary projects in the Ecuadorian Amazon, as well as in our neighbor country - Peru.

In the Amazon, we work with the community of Rumipamba, located in the province of Sucumbios, with the vision of helping to cover the necessities that exist in the area.  Currently collect gently used clothing, vital vitamins for child development and health, and other small but useful supplies.  We distribute them in the community, and build relationships there.  Furthermore, we undertake other activities, like recreation, evangelism, and other projects.

In Peru the mercy of God, and through working together with the mission, we have been able to go to the poorest, and most neglected zones of Trujillo, Peru, and work with a newly formed Remanso De Amor there.  We have gone with the Word of God, and the love of the Father, helping to construct a new church, and social center there, in the sector ‘Nueva Jerusalén’ where you will find or brother, pastor José Encarnación and his family leading. The main vision for this new Remanso at the moment is to create a new medical sector with the mandate to serve the community, because until now there is not one type of medical service available to the people there.

Social

Due to the constant economic need in which many families live everyday in the San Vincente - Forestal Sector, we created the ‘Markets’ project.  The ‘Markets’ project consists of the distribution of regular food items such as vegetables among other things, which we get from periodic visits to the markets, where we ask that venders would collaborate with us and volunteer to help with our goals.

One of the root reasons why many families find it hard to get an adequate amount of food to survive is simply a lack of close access to a market.  In order to shop, families are forced to take public transit, which costs them, or they are forced to buy in ‘corner store’ type shop, where the prices are much harder.  Because many work long hours, seven days a week, it is hard for them to find time to go to the market, and thus often buy in corner stores.  We hope to one day be able to start a not-for-profit community market, offering local access to healthy foods at low prices.

We are also starting a not for profit community technology center, where the youth and kids from the sector will have access to computers, internet, printing, and eventually computer courses.  Currently internet is not openly available in the sector, and we are working on changing that.  Similar to the lack of access to affordable food, kids are forced to take a bus to get to an internet café, where they then have to pay more than they can afford to use it.  Hopefully we can change that soon!

In the face of the relative abandonment in which many of the kids of the sector live, as their parents are forced to work long hours, we have started various weekly recreational activities for them.  Every weekend, via loud speaker, the kids in the streets are called to the small, dirt ‘field’ for games and sport, giving them a way to get their minds of things, while also giving them something fun to do.  The youth of the church are enlisted every weekend to help with this program, learning to serve God and the community from the get go.  Many of the kids also come on Sunday morning for our weekly Sunday-breakfast, which is given to every child who shows up on a Sunday morning at the center.

Another very important element to our social program is working with, and helping when we can with the day care that has been started in the community "Centro Infantil, El Gran Amor del Pequeno Delfin." It is a great initiative doing a world of good for both the children and the parents who are both forced to work long hours. Helping when we can, and supporting this initiative is an important social element to our community.

Education

Because of the relatively poor economic situation, many of the youth and children in our community are struggling to afford their school fees.  We have offered in some instances where we can afford to contribute financially to the continuation of these kids education, with the vision in mind that some day these kids may be the ones to help develop our country with the love of Christ

We also have started a number of free courses. We now offer a free math-help course with mathematicians, english courses for kids, youth, and adults, a bi-weekly cooking course with a professional chef, a music course, and a salon and hairdressing course. More supplies are however always needed.
